I was working for a client that had Huntington's Disease. He was essentially confined to his room and I wanted to try and vary his routine. I thought why not painting? I brought a bunch of paint and made individual blobs on a palette. I thought he would dip into each individually. Nope... he smeared them around with his brush and then applied paint to canvas. The most interesting aspect of this exercise for me was that after every brush stroke, his arm would rise and end with a little flick of the wrist or a flourish. For these works I tried to copy the way he applied the paint.
